Applications & processing

Applications include beverage and meal packaging, food-wrapping paper and paper bags. Material selection considers the paper substrate, coating structure and converting process.

Selection considers water and oil resistance, filling temperature and contact time, coat weight and heat-sealing conditions. Refer to the technical data for the specific grade and confirm parameters through finished-product testing.

Applications & processing

Outer-surface applications include paper cups, takeaway bowls, paper lids, and cartons for fragrances, cosmetics and premium goods.

The varnish protects the outer packaging surface. Selection considers paper and ink compatibility, varnish coat weight, drying conditions, appearance and feel. The inner barrier is selected as a separate functional layer.

Certification & repulping information

For food-contact applications, match materials and test documentation to the target market, food type, use temperature, contact duration and complete packaging structure.

Repulping evaluation reference: the tested EPP (4110) coated-paper sample achieved a usable fiber yield of 98.8%. The PTS evaluation also recorded limitations related to tackiness and optical inhomogeneity; the recycling conclusion applies under conditions such as mixed paper streams. This result relates to the tested paper sample, not to all materials or finished products.

The compostability certifications above cover the listed PHA coating materials or components. Finished packaging is assessed separately as a complete structure. Home and industrial composting use different conditions; follow the product labeling and locally available treatment facilities.

The DIN home and ABA home certificates cover unprinted, uncolored material with a maximum thickness of 1.97 mm. The DIN industrial registration specifies a maximum thickness of 3.46 mm. Refer to the relevant certificate for its full scope.
