The Pioneer Alliance is committed to promoting the sustainable development of the green, low-carbon and environmentally friendly paper cup industry, bringing together top scholars and industry experts in the industry chain to compile technical standards and market promotions for the entire disposable paper cup industry chain and end-user recyclability, and promote the application of these standards on a global scale. At this Carbon Expo, the plastic-free paper cups launched by paper giant APP Jinguang Paper became a highlight. Jinguang Paper's zero-plastic paper cups use BASF's water-based film-forming dispersion Bioten™️ HPB heat-sealable liquid barrier material, and advanced water-based barrier coating technology products jointly developed with DBC DBC. They are manufactured by Lido Technology, making the paper cups fully recyclable and reusable. Compared with traditional PE coated paper cups, APP plastic-free paper cups using a water-based barrier coating significantly reduce carbon emissions throughout their life cycle. According to statistics, China's production scale of disposable paper cups in 2023 will be approximately 150 billion, and local consumption will be as high as 100 billion. If all cups are replaced with APP plastic-free paper cups, millions of tons of high-quality paper fibers will be recycled every year, saving huge amounts of water resources and electricity. These plastic-free paper cups also have environmentally friendly properties such as degradable and microwaveable. They can not only meet the requirements of Shanghai's construction of a solid waste-free city, but also meet the green and low-carbon development requirements of many countries and regions, using the momentum of new productivity to accelerate the realization of China's dual-carbon green goal.
