这一成果不仅成功打通了从PHA生物合成到终端纸制品应用的全产业链条,更标志着该项环保包装技术已完成关键的工业化验证,为后续的大规模商业化应用奠定了坚实基础。

四方跨企业协作,打通绿色包装“最后一公里”
传统的PE塑料淋膜纸杯、纸碗等在带来便利的同时,也因其无法降解极难回收而对环境构成巨大压力。PLA涂层纸杯测需要在工业条件下实现降解,且在回收再桨工艺中较难实现。寻找一种既能满足防水、防油的阻隔性能,又能实现可回收与完全生物降解的环保材料,成为行业面临的共同挑战。
PHA作为一种由微生物合成的天然高分子材料,具备优异的生物降解性和材料性能,被视为替代传统塑料的理想选择之一。然而,将实验室中的PHA原材料转化为能够满足水性涂料阻隔条件并适应高速、高温的现代化造纸工业生产线,并最终制成合格的消费品,需要打通技术、生产、应用等多个环节。

After 100 days of collaborative research across the industry chain, PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) water-based barrier coating technology has reached a decisive moment. Recently, PHA water-based barrier coating has successfully completed industrial-scale scale-up production at the Ningbo base of APP Sinar Mas (China), marking the success of the first industrial-level production line verification of PHA water-based barrier coating in the world. All performance indicators of the produced PHA food card barrier paper have reached predetermined standards.
This achievement not only successfully opened up the entire industrial chain from PHA biosynthesis to terminal paper product applications, but also marked that this environmentally friendly packaging technology has completed key industrial verification, laying a solid foundation for subsequent large-scale commercial application.

The success of this industrial-grade trial production is an important result of cross-border collaboration and full-chain innovation among four partners: Bluepha (PHA raw material supplier), DBC (PHA water-based barrier coating technology solution provider), APP Sinar Mas (leading papermaking company) and Hengxin Life (leading paper cup manufacturing company). Four parties cooperate across enterprises to open up the "last mile" of green packaging
While traditional PE plastic-coated paper cups and bowls bring convenience, they also put huge pressure on the environment because they cannot be degraded and are extremely difficult to recycle. PLA coated paper cupping needs to be degraded under industrial conditions, and is difficult to achieve in the recycling and repulping process. Finding an environmentally friendly material that can not only meet the barrier properties of water and oil, but also be recyclable and completely biodegradable has become a common challenge faced by the industry.
As a natural polymer material synthesized by microorganisms, PHA has excellent biodegradability and material properties, and is regarded as one of the ideal alternatives to traditional plastics. However, to transform the PHA raw materials in the laboratory into a modern papermaking industrial production line that can meet the barrier conditions of water-based coatings and adapt to high speed and high temperature, and finally make qualified consumer products, it is necessary to open up multiple links such as technology, production, and application.
