On October 8, 2025, DBC and BASF held a "Bio-based Barrier Coating System Solution" (Bioten™️BIOTEN Products) low-carbon barrier coating technology exchange meeting. The conference focused on the application of disposable tableware and food packaging, and conducted in-depth discussions on the industrialization path of a new generation of low-carbon bio-based water-based barrier coatings, focusing on barrier performance, processing efficiency improvement and production line adaptation. The two parties jointly advocated "reducing carbon at the source, reshaping packaging, and driving the industry forward with product strength" and announced that they will accelerate the implementation of bio-based barrier technology solutions in multiple scenarios and globalization through "standard alignment + process verification".

DBC's R&D team conducted in-depth discussions with Dr. Bernd Meyer-Roscher, Global Application Technology Director of BASF resins, and business and marketing leaders on the comprehensive implementation of "bio-based barrier coating system solutions". A new generation of bio-based barrier coatings for the global market is leading industry trends. Based on the principle of low-carbon formula design, the two parties combined DBC Bioten™ BIOTEN PHA emulsion with BASF's leading bio-based material polymerization technology to promote industrial application and accelerate the large-scale implementation of bio-based barrier coatings in multiple scenarios such as disposable tableware and food packaging.

As a comprehensive strategic partner of BASF's Bioten™ carbon product water-based barrier coating material series, DBC has long-term jointly developed innovative products and market promotion of water-based barrier coatings with BASF.
We will take bio-based water-based barrier coatings for disposable tableware and food packaging as the core; based on the improvement of high-speed coating and heat sealing forming processing efficiency, we will promote R&D and product implementation from the four dimensions of compliance and safety, application and scenarios, functions and data, recycling and degradation, and form Bioten™️Pro low-carbon system solutions, which take into account barrier performance and efficient processing of production line adaptation. The Pro system solution is based on the food contact compliance path: project-based evaluation according to 21 CFR/FCN, GB 4806/GB 9685/GB 31604, EU FCM and other regulations, and insists that PFAS is not artificially added and is low VOC. Functions and data are disclosed according to standard methods (such as Cobb/Kit, WVTR [ASTM F1249], OTR [ASTM D3985]; see TDS/Project Report for conditions). At the same time, repulping and recyclability are evaluated according to the CEPI/PTS route, and industrial composting is promoted according to the ASTM D6400/D6868 route (you can apply for BPI or TÜV Austria OK compost certification). Based on this, we provide alternative PE coating technology routes, promote packaging from "plastic reduction" to "carbon reduction", and help the paper-based industry move towards an easily recyclable/compostable recycling system.
