BIOTEN has released certification information regarding PHA water-based barrier materials. Whether certification applies to a specific material, SKU, thickness, structure, or end product should be determined by the BPI public directory, valid documents, and the conditions listed therein.

This development provides a searchable entry point for certification information for related projects, but it cannot be inferred that all BIOTEN products, coated paper, or end packaging products meet home compostability, food contact, or other market requirements. Projects must still verify specific subjects, structures, coating amounts, testing methods, and target markets.
For paper-based packaging, competition is no longer just about "replacing plastic," but about meeting the systemic requirements of functionality, compliance, recycling, and end-of-life disposal.
Bioten™ BIOTEN PHA water-based barrier materials are designed for projects such as paper cups, paper bowls, food containers, paper bags, and food packaging paper, focusing on formulation design that does not intentionally add PFAS, food contact compliance assessment, water resistance, oil resistance, moisture resistance, oxygen resistance, hot and cold liquids, heat seal processing, repulping, and composting disposal. Each conclusion must be separately linked to the product version, end product, testing method, target market, and valid documents.
The BPI public directory lists SKUs 1033, 1030, 1040, 6130, 6140, 6150, 7130, 7140, 4110, 4109, and 4108 for Bioten™ PHA Barrier Coating on the verification date. Projects should re-verify directory status, certificate attachments, specific SKUs, thickness, usage, and labeling rights before use; component certification must not be extended to certification conclusions for the entire Plus / Pro series, coated paper, or end packaging products.
The project path for the BIOTEN PHA bio-based water-based barrier system involves simultaneously evaluating source material design, product performance, repulping, and composting disposal under applicable conditions; no single certificate replaces the verification and compliance assessment of the complete end product.
In the future, the key for paper-based packaging is not just "using paper to replace plastic," but enabling paper to truly fulfill food packaging functions and enter a clear and credible end-of-life path after use.
