Transparent sourcing. Clear accountability.

Know who supplies your materials and who stands behind quality and service.

Food-contact compliance

Material selection and application validation support for US FDA, EU, China, Japan, Korea and Australia/New Zealand requirements. All grades are formulated without intentionally added PFAS.

Key requirements: 21 CFR 176; (EC) 1935/2004 and 2023/2006; GB 4806 series. See page 3.

Recycling & compostability

PTS paper-sample test: >95% fiber yield; recyclable with limitations. PHA compostability certified by ABA, DIN CERTCO and BPI for selected grades and structures. Commercial/industrial and home scopes vary by certificate; see page 3.

SUPD compliance support

For PHA-coated paper packaging, we help you assess whether and how the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) applies, considering the base paper, coating, finished structure and target market. Grade details: page 3.

03 / MATERIAL SELECTION & EVIDENCE

Two systems. Three grades.

Choose by cost, converting speed and end-of-life needs.

WATER-BASED ACRYLIC

BIO-BASED PHA

4110

BIOTEN PLUS

Water-based acrylic
barrier emulsion

Why choose it

Compared with PLA-coated paper:
About 60% less coating material
Significantly lower procurement cost
Clearly better barrier performance

Cup-forming speed (ref.) · cups/min

120–180

Bottom sealing · machine setpoint

350°C

Recycling & compostability

PTS paper sample: >95% fiber yield
Recyclable with limitations

Notes

As production scales up, coated-paper cost is expected to approach that of PE-coated paper by March 2027

4108

BIOTEN PLUS

Bio-based PHA
water-based composite emulsion

Why choose it

Cup-forming speeds close to those achieved with PE-coated paper

Cup-forming speed (ref.) · cups/min

150–260

Bottom sealing · machine setpoint

320°C

Recycling & compostability

Recycling: high repulpability
Composting: commercial & home
Both to be validated per structure

Notes

Bio-based carbon >25% of total organic carbon, meeting T/SAFCM 052-2026 (Shanghai); very low VOC (<2 g/L)

1030

BIOTEN PRO

Bio-based PHA
water-based barrier emulsion

Why choose it

High-speed cup forming with a BPI-certified coating material

Cup-forming speed (ref.) · cups/min

150–350

Bottom sealing · machine setpoint

150°C

Recycling & compostability

Recycling: high repulpability
Composting: commercial & home
ABA, DIN CERTCO, BPI

Notes

PHA barrier coating material already on the market; BPI-certified for commercial and home composting

Process, compliance & end of life

Side-seam sealing: ~200°C for all three grades (machine setpoint). 4108/1030 can be sealed without ultrasonic assistance.

PHA barrier: Cobb60 <6 g/m²; grease resistance up to Kit 12.

Food-contact requirements

  • China: GB 4806.8-2022; GB 4806.10-2025.
  • US: 21 CFR 176.170 / 176.180, depending on food type.
  • EU: (EC) 1935/2004 and 2023/2006; (EU) 10/2011, 2024/3190 and national rules, depending on structure.
  • ANZ: Food Standards Code 1.1.1, 1.4.1, Schedule 19; Australia: 3.2.2, clause 9.
  • Japan: Food Sanitation Act and synthetic-resin positive list.
  • Korea: MFDS rules for utensils, containers and packaging.

Composting & recycling evidence

  • DIN CERTCO: EN 13432 (industrial) / NF T 51-800 (home).
  • ABA: AS 4736 (commercial) / AS 5810 (home).
  • BPI: commercial & home compostable, per grade and certificate scope.
  • PTS: fiber yield applies to the tested sample only; not a recycling rate.
  • Coating speed: 800 vs 100 m/min for EAA and conventional acrylic emulsions = 8×. Production-proven at 800–1,200 m/min on high-speed coaters and paper machines—a key lever for efficiency and cost.

Seal temperatures are machine setpoints, not material heat-resistance limits. Food-contact, recycling, composting and SUPD claims must be confirmed for each structure and use with valid documentation. Material certification does not automatically extend to finished packaging.
