Foodservice Engineering

FOODSERVICEWARE · SYSTEM

One foodservice article, one complete engineering chain.

The fiber body is only the starting point. We put contents, article architecture, paper, candidate PHA bio-based waterborne functional-emulsion routes, coating, printing, forming, sealing, finished-article validation and claim boundaries into one development task.

Engineering scope | paper, candidate coatings, converting, finished articles and responsibilities are governed together, with project results delivered by evidence version.

02 · COMPONENTS / BOM

Finished-article BOM: assign responsibility to every layer.

Every test, compliance or environmental conclusion must be tied to the complete structure, suppliers, batches and specimen version.

Paper and surface treatment

Base paper, sizing, primer, barrier layer, sealing layer and possible two-sided structures.

Converting materials

Ink, overprint varnish, adhesive, sealing aids, lids and labels.

Article geometry

Sidewall, base, seam, rim, crease, corners, compartments and open/close architecture.

03—05 · ENGINEERING AXIS

Paper, coating and converting jointly determine the finished article.

Each stage retains inputs, specimen version, decision method and fallback criteria. A laboratory flat sheet answers only its defined question.

03 · PAPER

Duty selects the paper

Record grammage, caliper, stiffness, absorption, smoothness, porosity, wet strength, sizing, surface energy and forming direction, using measured profiles to drive paper selection.

03 · PAPER

Batch and sidedness

Retain supplier, batch, side, conditioning and storage records to attribute paper variation and coating performance clearly.

04 · COATING

Define the function stack

Liquid and grease resistance, moisture barrier, sealing, adhesion, printing and friction are co-designed across layers, advancing a candidate emulsion into a complete formulation.

04 · COATING

Then build the film window

Assess wetting, leveling, penetration, drying, continuity, pinholes, blocking, creasing and thermal history, with formula and specimen version control.

05 · CONVERTING · 01

Coating and printing

Confirm coating stability, dryer load, winding, surface treatment and print compatibility across bench, trial and sustained runs.

05 · CONVERTING · 02

Forming and sealing

Include cutting, creasing, rim forming, bottom sealing, corners, gluing, heat sealing and equipment rate in finished-article validation.

06 · FAILURE MAP

Trace material, structural and process responsibility from the failure location.

Use location, medium, time, temperature, action, specimen version and failure progression to break water resistance into locatable, correctable engineering problems.

FAILURE · 01

Interface failure

Craters, pinholes, delamination, cracking, crease damage and fiber pick.

FAILURE · 02

Article failure

Leakage, bottom-seal opening, side-seam failure, softening, warp, nesting jams and lid-fit issues.

FAILURE · 03

Scenario failure

Hot liquids, condensation, fats, sauces, steam, delivery vibration and storage time amplify weak points.

07 · G0—G4

Five gates control the path from an idea to an external conclusion.

Sample, production, compliance, shelf-life and environmental claims advance by evidence stage; validation-pending status remains transparent and traceable.

G0

Duty definition

Define contents, temperature, contact time, distribution, storage, use mode, target market and owners, using complete inputs to set the material-conclusion boundary.

G1

Material and structure

Confirm the complete BOM, batches and specimen version for paper, sizing, coating, ink, adhesive and seams, archiving emulsion, flat-sheet and finished-article data by object level.

G2

Converting and article

Validate coating, drying, winding, printing, cutting, creasing, sealing and forming windows, then recheck critical failures on complete articles.

G3

Use and compliance

Build food-contact and chemical evidence for the target market, food type, contact conditions and complete formulation. Each claim maps to valid documentation.

G4

Scenario and release

After justified use, distribution and evidence review, the project proceeds to decisions on production introduction, shelf-life conclusions, public claims and end-of-life pathways.

Performance values

Each fixed value carries its specimen, method, conditions, units, sample size, batch and report status, forming a reproducible data passport.

Food contact

Material and finished-article review and testing are organized by target market, use, food type, time/temperature and complete BOM to form complete-pack compliance evidence.

PFAS / chemistry

‘Not intentionally added’, ‘not detected’ and ‘PFAS-free’ are each bound to an analyte list, threshold, method, specimen and supply-chain declaration.

Plastic-free / plastic reduction

Define plastic, polymer, coating and complete-structure calculation boundaries, then compare material use per pack, functional equivalence and production losses between baseline and candidate structures.

Recycling / composting

Recyclability and compostability each map the complete article, methods, facility access, regional systems and valid certification or testing into a distinct end-of-life route.

Microwave / shelf life

Microwave, hot-food, chilled, frozen and shelf-life suitability build scenario-specific validation results around defined food, container, closure, equipment and time/temperature conditions.

High-speed production

Progress from lab film formation, hand samples and low-speed trials to target equipment, rate, quality system and sustained-run validation.
