NEW APPLICATION RELEASE · SURFACE & BARRIER ENGINEERING · BP-001
Give paper cups, cartons and bags
a quieter premium surface.
Bioten™ Plus BALANCED PLATFORM
Built on a PHA bio-based waterborne functional emulsion, Bioten™ Plus coordinates natural premium matte, retained paper feel, low-odor waterborne processing, barrier functions and heat sealing in one balanced engineering solution for brand quality, line fit and lower-plastic fiber packaging. From paper and coating to converting and finished-pack validation, it moves every application opportunity faster into sampling, verification and delivery.

01 · BALANCED PLATFORM
Balance brings five critical capabilities together.
Bringing fiber packaging to market requires coating stability, surface quality, content barriers, sealing and forming, odor control and compliance documentation to work as one system. Bioten™ Plus provides a balanced engineering starting point for rapid sampling and line validation, then precisely converges the application version around paper, contents, equipment and target market.
02 · THREE HIGH-FREQUENCY OBJECTS
One Plus platform, redefined around cups, cartons and bags.
One material logic accelerates project startup. Object-specific process windows are then built around paper porosity, sizing, surface energy, coating method, drying capacity and finished-article requirements, moving Plus rapidly from a versatile platform into dedicated versions for paper cups, cartons and bags.

Paper cartons
Coordinate print, stain resistance, creases and carton stability between brand surface and food-pack function.
- Focus: grease, moisture, contents and contact time
- Process: printing, die cutting, creasing, folding and adhesive/heat sealing
- Experience: matte uniformity, fingerprints, rub and color retention
Paper bags
Bring flexible folding, printed tactility and short-term grease/water contact into one sampling route.
- Focus: grease spots, splashes, strike-through and seams
- Process: bag making, folding, bonding, stacking and blocking resistance
- Experience: low odor, dry touch and fiber character
03 · SURFACE ENGINEERING
Premium matte is a precisely controlled set of surface variables.
Bioten Plus combines same-batch paper evaluation of gloss, appearance uniformity, rub, print, post-fold state and content contact to lock in a stable, repeatable surface version.
Fiber topography and absorption rate determine emulsion penetration and effective surface coverage. Formulation wetting, leveling and coalescence influence dewetting, pinholes and film continuity. Drying zones, airflow, speed and residual moisture further shape microtexture, blocking resistance and curl. Premium matte ultimately comes from joint control of process, structure and perception.
04 · ODOR CONTROL
Low odor is a processing path from emulsion to finished pack.
A waterborne system lowers solvent burden and provides a material foundation for a cleaner processing environment. Bioten Plus brings paper, additives, inks, adhesives, drying completeness, rewinding and storage time into one odor-control chain, optimizing sensory quality across formulation, drying, conditioning and the finished package.
Build a reproducible low-odor processing window around oven zones, residual moisture, conditioning and storage cadence, then extend it to sensory evaluation of the printed, bonded, formed and content-contacted finished package.
05 · PROJECT PATHWAY
From reducing reliance on PE lamination to finished-pack validation.
Bioten Plus uses waterborne functional coatings to open new opportunities for reducing and replacing conventional plastic lamination. The project advances paper, coating structure, use conditions, process stability, target market and end-of-life pathway as one system, turning material potential into a manufacturable, verifiable and deliverable finished-pack solution.

06 · VALIDATION & COLLABORATION
Build matte, low-odor, barrier and sustainability value through measurable validation.
| Validation object | Key question | Suggested record | Decision output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surface & brand perception | Is matte uniform, and do paper feel, color and touch match positioning? | Gloss, appearance, rub, fingerprints, print and post-fold state | Surface version and approval sample |
| Barrier & contents | Do metrics represent real liquids, grease, time and temperature? | Cobb/KIT screening conditions, content contact, creases and edges | Structure window and failure boundary |
| Process & converting | Can it be coated, dried, rewound, printed and sealed consistently? | Wet/dry coat weight, speed, zones, curl, blocking and heat sealing | Production window and batch record |
| Odor & sensory | Does it meet the target after drying, conditioning and in the finished pack? | Paper, coating, ink, adhesive, storage and content controls | Low-odor version and use boundary |
| Compliance & end-of-life | What food-contact, claim and disposal evidence does the target market require? | Formulation version, supply-chain documents, test object, method and report | Permitted public-claim scope |
